Flu-like symptoms

E-mail Print

Most people have mild to moderate flu-like symptoms but these usually decrease after the first few weeks of treatment.

You can try the following to alleviate the symptoms:

  • Taking Tylenol before you take your injection can help.
  • Try taking your injection at night; you may be able to sleep through the symptoms.
  • Drink plenty of water (about 8 glasses a day).
  • Use extra blankets and clothes when you have the chills.
  • Use ice or gel pack for fevers, headaches and other aches and pains.
  • Avoid loud noises, bright lights, alcohol, caffeine and foods with tyramine (such as cheese and chocolate) and phenylalanine (found in artificial sweeteners) this may help with headaches.
