How long do I need to be treated?

Treatment duration varies according to genotype and mono- or co-infection.
Mono-infected, genotype 2 or 3

If you are mono-infected (meaning you only have hepatitis C) and you have Hepatitis C genotype 2 or 3 you are looking at 24 weeks of treatment with Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin.

Mono-infected, genotype 1 or 4

If you are mono-infected (meaning you only have hepatitis C) and you have Hepatitis C genotype 1 or 4 you are looking at 48 weeks of treatment with Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin.

Co-infected

If you are co-infected (meaning you have HIV as well as hepatitis C) you are looking at 48 weeks of treatment with Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin regardless of genotype.
