Dr. Chris Steingart, MD FRCPC
Originally from Wheatley, Ontario, Dr. Steingart attended medical school at the University of Calgary.
After graduating in 1993, Dr. Steingart completed residencies in Internal Medicine and
Infectious Diseases in Calgary before moving to Lethbridge, AB where he practiced for two years.
Upon moving back to Ontario in 2002, Dr. Steingart accepted the position of Director of Infection
Prevention and Control at Grand River and St. Mary’s Hospitals where he also started an
Infectious Disease clinic, specializing in the treatment of those patients living with HIV and
Hepatitis C. Currently, Dr. Steingart sees patients at the Masai Centre and at Sanguen Health
Centre, both in Guelph and Waterloo.
Martine Stomp
Martine hails from Gendt in the Netherlands.
She received her RN and Specialized RN certification at the Atrium Medical Centre in Heerlen, the
Netherlands. Upon moving to Canada in 2002, Martine accepted the position of Office RN at Yarmouth
Medical Group in Guelph. In 2005, with the opening of the Masai Centre in Guelph, Martine became the
RN and HIV Clinic Coordinator. Here, Martine demonstrated her expertise and compassion in working
with patients living with HIV. Her dedication to her patients was unparallelled.
We now welcome Martine to our clinic where she continues to offer our patients the utmost in care.
She creates an environment where patients feel comfortable to ask questions and voice their concerns,
without passing judgement and treating each individual with respect and dignity.
Michelle Steingart, BSc BEd
Born and raised in Waterloo, Michelle began her academic career at the University of Waterloo in the
Co-op Biology program. After completing a research work term in Calgary, she transferred to the
University of Calgary and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.
Michelle then entered the Faculty of Education at U of C and graduated with distinction in 1995.
Michelle accepted a teaching position in Calgary and taught junior high science for four years
before starting a family with her husband, Chris.
Michelle is now Clinic Coordinator of Sanguen Health Centre. Here, she helps patients get the care
they need, both through the clinic and through allied services in the community.
Her enthusiasm and dedication to patient care are essential to the success of Sanguen.
